Resistance of filamental fungi in opportunistic mycoses: literature review

چکیده

Fungal diseases need to be better known and studied, as they are not the first diagnostic hypotheses main causes of morbidity mortality among immunocompromised patients. Main agents involved in opportunistic mycoses: Cryptococcus spp., Candida Aspergillus spp. Pneumocystis present epidemiological data these infections modest, due incorrect or incomplete diagnoses. adding this indiscriminate use antifungal contributed a change profile selecting resistant fungal strains, increasing rate affected Thus, study aims review literature on fungi address important aspects resistance filamentous fungi. A search was carried out scientific based electronic database Pubmed, MedlinePlus, Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Academic Google., using descriptors: Filamentous Fungi, Antifungals; spp.; albicans; neoformans; Sporothrixs chenckii; resistance, mycoses profile. Studies indicate that rapid diagnosis choice correct drug can increase recovery rates patients with infections. The delay even drugs low efficiency has aggravated and, at same time, increased infected mycoses. This bibliographic base cases their available.

Immune reconstitution syndrome associated with opportunistic mycoses.

Host immunity is essential in facilitating the eradication of infection. However, immunological recovery and an imbalance characterised by either suboptimum or excessive expression of immune responses can also be harmful to the host. Inflammatory responses triggered by rapid resolution of immunosuppression can lead to a series of localised and systemic reactions, termed immune reconstitution sy...

Steroid-binding receptors in fungi: implication for systemic mycoses

It has been shown that some of the mycotic infections especially systemic mycoses show increased male susceptibility and some steroids have been known to influence the immune response. Researchers found that some fungi including yeasts use "message molecules" including hormones to elicit certain responses, especially in the sexual cycle, but until recently no evidence was available to...

Treatment of opportunistic mycoses: how long is long enough?

For most opportunistic mycoses no optimum duration of antifungal therapy has been defined. Although a long course of therapy is prudent, especially for mycelial fungal infections, excessively and unnecessarily extended courses of treatment incur a risk of toxicity and the expense of the therapeutic regimen. On the basis of existing reports on the pathogenesis and the effect of duration of thera...
